Next step
Request a written proposal
The short answer: Solar ATAP eligibility and technical requirements depend on your consumer category, electricity use, roof, electrical connection and the latest official programme rules. Treat every quote as a proposal to verify—not a guarantee of approval, savings or programme credit.

What is Solar ATAP Malaysia?

Solar ATAP is Malaysia’s current rooftop solar programme framework for eligible TNB consumers in Peninsular Malaysia. A solar photovoltaic system is primarily designed for self-consumption, while eligible surplus may be exported under the programme’s credit mechanism. The exact technical and application requirements depend on the consumer group, proposed capacity and grid connection conditions.

The six checks before you approve a proposal

01
Consumer and programme eligibility
Confirm which current Solar ATAP rule applies to the property and TNB account.
02
Load profile and daytime use
Use recent bills and actual daytime consumption—not a generic system-size promise.
03
Roof and electrical assessment
Check usable roof area, shading, roof condition, main switchboard and cable route.
04
Approvals and submission ownership
Ask who prepares documents, testing records and the relevant submission steps.
05
Equipment and workmanship coverage
Separate product warranties from installation workmanship and service support.
06
Savings assumptions
Request the assumptions behind generation, tariff, export credit, degradation and payback.

Documents to prepare

  • Latest TNB electricity bill and account information
  • Owner or company details required for the proposal
  • Roof photographs, site access notes and electrical information
  • Any existing solar or electrical drawings available

Frequently asked questions

Is NEM still the current programme?
The former NEM programme concluded at the end of June 2025. New applicants should verify the current Solar ATAP framework and official updates.

Can every roof join Solar ATAP?
No. Roof condition, consumer status, system capacity, electrical connection and programme requirements must be assessed.

How do I estimate system size?
Start with at least twelve months of bills and daytime consumption, then confirm roof orientation, shading, usable area and electrical constraints with a qualified installer.
