What Should Be Included in a Solar System Handover
The useful pack is the one you can find again when you need a document, a login or a safe answer about the equipment.
At the end of an installation, the owner should receive more than a folder of photographs. Ask for the signed proposal and the final system record: the equipment installed at the property, the approved layout or drawing, the relevant isolation points, and any changes agreed during the work. If a detail is still to be confirmed, put it on the handover note instead of leaving it to memory.
Start with a clear record of what was delivered
Keep the dated commissioning information with the same record. A photograph can show that panels are on a roof; it cannot tell you the final circuit arrangement or which document governs the installation. Inhome Solar publishes solar system installation, documentation and TNB NEM application, consultancy/advisory, and operations and maintenance services.[1]
The handover does not need to be a thick manual. It needs names, dates and a clear place for the documents that someone may need later. Keep the final drawing or system description beside the signed commissioning record, not in separate message threads.
Keep testing and utility paperwork together
For a Solar ATAP project, the current SEDA guideline says the equipment, design, installation work, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance must follow the relevant law and authority or utility requirements.[5] It also says testing and commissioning and certification of completion are performed by the applicable competent person or contractor, and that a signed copy of the testing and commissioning report and certificate of completion is submitted to the electricity utility company or grid owner.[5] That is why the handover should name the commissioning date, the person or contractor who signed the record, and where the signed report is stored.
SEDA's current Solar ATAP page says the Solar PV installation work must be fully completed and successfully commissioned before the application is submitted.[4] The page links the Solar ATAP Contract, Form G & H and the Solar ATAP Testing & Commissioning Form as application material.[4] The form itself records a competent person's confirmation that the installation is completed and safely commissioned.[6]
The programme may not be the same for every Malaysian solar system. Ask Inhome Solar to confirm which route and documents apply to your property rather than copying an old NEM or ATAP list. TNB's Electricity Supply Application Handbook site separates supply, connection and metering guidance into its own sections.[7] Its connection guidance sits within the utility's technical framework.[8] Its metering guidance says TNB provides and maintains the meters used to measure imported or exported electricity, while the customer keeps the relevant supply termination accessible to TNB personnel.[9]
Make the first week easy for the person using the system
The person taking over the property should not have to guess where to find the monitoring login, which readings are normal for that installation, or who to call if data stops updating. Ask the installer to walk through the monitoring route and write down the account owner, the support contact, and the information to record before raising a question.
A practical pack also has a simple map of the equipment, the names of the documents, the date they were handed over, and a note about outstanding items. That is more useful than a folder full of unnamed photographs. Check the instructions from the installer before touching any equipment. Do not climb onto the roof or open electrical equipment to investigate a screen.
Leave with a support path, not just a folder
Handover is the point to confirm what happens after installation: who handles an application or document query, who receives an operations and maintenance request, and which details should accompany a service call. Those arrangements belong to the signed proposal and the provider's current written terms; they should not be guessed from a generic article. Inhome Solar's contact page provides the live enquiry route for the company.[2]
Before you file the documents, compare the pack with the system that was actually delivered. If a serial number, equipment description, layout, date or contact is missing, ask for the correction while the installation is still fresh.
